If you could have just one . . . .

The year hasn’t started as well as I had hoped and for some reason lately I’ve been going back to a post Serena made on her Blog, Embroidery Treasures, last year. I have the pleasure of taking an on-line quilting class with her next month. But, I digress – -

She talks about getting more time, and with my aging years, you might think that is what I would wish for, more time. More time to be with our new Grandchildren, to see more things, to visit with friends and that list could go on and on. But for the last few months, I’ve been wishing I could get inspired. Inspired about anything, to design a new handbag, or create a new piece of jewelry, finish the 3 jackets that are sitting here looking at me and trying to make me feel guilty – NOT! It’s like the ability to create has left me. I can’t point to one thing that took it away, I didn’t make something that came out horrible, I don’t even know when it left, but I sure wish it would come back. I get to visit my best friend next month and we always inspire each other. We’re like a couple of kids when we get together, even though our Grandkids have kids – lol. She’s been working on new projects, anticipating my arrival and I was suppose to practice something I used to do to teach her, but, it too, is sitting here looking at me. Surely I’ll come back with so many ideas going on in my head there won’t be a way to contain them.

So, that’s my wish, the return of my inspiration/creativity! If you could have just one thing – what would you long for?

    Marilyn,
This would be a great post to submit to the blog carnival on inspiration, http://lvsonline.com/online-blogging-classes/inspiration-blog-carnival/

You are echoing, very articulately, what I keep hearing from so many bloggers. There is the reality of limited time and so many possibilities that it can be a challenge to find the inspiration and give it room and energy to take flight.

I can relate to the inspiration and unfinished projects. I actually belong to a group called the “UFO Club” (UnFinished Objects). Now I learned a new term for those of us who do craft projects and had lots of them started:
PhD (Projects Half Done). You just tell people you are working on your “PhD” and when they ask in what you say “textiles”!!! I’m actually going on a UFO Club retreat next weekend where we all stay at a hotel and work on and encourage each other to finish our projects. Of course some of us also cheat and start new ones there!

Sometimes my muse takes a vacation too it seems. It always comes back in one form or another though. So here’s hoping yours reappears soon! ;)

    Hi Marilyn,
I usually find that the missing muse has hired an inept temporary helper, who is always hiding in some other genre/activity. I hope working with your friend on a variety of things will turn over the particular shell your muse is napping under!
Great post, as for my one thing-confident competency, please. With fries. I knew I shouldn’t have written this while hungry.
    Cheers!

Thanks to all for your comments, reading them and taking this course seems to be helping my muse return home. Thanks again.

You asked the question, if we could have just one thing, what would it be? I would wish for the ability to see clearly… and then, of course, to paint it, either with pigments or words so that others could see as well.
